Pastor’s Corner
Finding Peace in the Chaos
I know that I don’t need to tell you that we seem to be in a time of great unrest and dis-ease. Not just in our country … but everywhere. Not even just in secular spaces … but, in some instances, within the big “C” church as well. And it makes it challenging to tap into the peace of Christ that is available to us via our faith. As someone that struggles with feeling anxious and overwhelmed at times, I’ve found that lately it isn’t enough to avoid watching “the news” or to carefully regulate what information I take in. Somehow … the chaos finds me anyway. Truly, it has become more and more difficult for any of us to escape the noise. As people called to live amidst the “world” and serve as arbiters of God’s love, it wouldn’t be wise for us to escape it altogether anyway.
So what do we do? Well thanks to some of the wonderful people in my zoom discussion group, I’ve got some great apps to share! First up — big disclaimer — these will not and do not need to work for everyone. I do not want to add to your to-do lists! These are simply tools that have really helped us to cultivate God’s peace within our hearts and we want to share them with everyone! Personally, I have found each of these very helpful in providing me with the replenishment I need to quiet the sense of dread that so easily can creep into my heart. But I do want to acknowledge that the end goal with any tool or spiritual discipline is to cultivate a deeper trust in God and to become more and more aware of God’s presence. So if they help you to that end, awesome. If not, my prayer is God will lead you to something that does!
With that said, here’s a list of some of the apps our group has identified:
Lectio 365 (CLICK HERE TO VIEW)
This app provides morning, midday, and nighttime devotionals (each around 10-12 minutes or less) that are intended to help you “encounter God and shape your life by praying the Bible every day.” You can read these devotionals, listen to them, or both. I absolutely LOVE this app because it combines prayer with Scripture passages.
One Minute Pause, from John Eldridge (CLICK HERE TO VIEW)
This app provides 1, 3, 5, and 10 minute guided “pauses” to help you breathe, rest, and re-center your mind and heart on God. I use this when I’m feeling anxious or stressed and I need to take a moment and “be still” before God.
Hallow (CLICK HERE TO VIEW)
This app functions almost as a library of tools, offering guided prayer, Bible readings, a nightly examen, and calming music. The actor who portrays Jesus on The Chosen, Jonathan Roumie, often is featured on this app (and if you are familiar with him you know that his voice is amazing!). There is a fee for this app but you can try it for free. Although this is geared towards members of the Roman Catholic denomination, there are many resources on this app that work well for all denominations.
Humbly, I also suggest participating in our weekly services of contemplation and communion. If you can’t attend the “live” service on Friday morning, the recordings are available on my website and on my YouTube channel. The services are different from what you might experience in a brick-and-mortar church service. Our goal is to cultivate an awareness of God’s presence and allow time for God to speak to us in addition to offering our prayers to God. We enjoy celebrating the sacrament of Holy Communion together as well. So far, I’ve received great feedback from the attendees. There is more information further down in this newsletter if you are interested!
Whether you choose these specific tools or some other way to connect to God, remember that these words from the Apostle Paul: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).
God’s peace be with you,
Kimberly

Hope Heals: “The Good, Hard Story”

Just a reminder that 15% of all money donated to Kimberly Constant Ministries between August 2025 and August 2026 will be given to Hope Heals camp. Thank you to all of you who have donated so far! Still working on tallying our donations. I’ll keep you posted!
Also, one of the founders of Hope Heals, Katherine Wolf, has an amazing podcast called The Good Hard Story. As she says each week in her podcast opening, she believes that the good story and the hard story can be the exact same story. She invites us to join her in a “joyful rebellion to the darkness, where we discover the treasures hidden in our hurting.” Her new “season” just kicked off and her first guest is Beth Moore. I highly, highly recommend listening and subscribing!!! You can find the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube. I’ll add the link to YouTube below.
